Sometimes some great ideas just need a little boost to get started, and right now there's real funding to do exactly that.

I'm excited to share that the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) just announced two new grant opportunities to help rural communities build, improve, and activate outdoor recreation assets and programs in order to strengthen local economies, improve community health, expand access to the outdoors, and enhance quality of life.
First, ORR Implementation Grants for RERC Communities, offers up to $15,000 in grant funding and up to $1,000 in in-kind assistance to help communities turn their plans into action.
Additionally, the Mountain West Rural Outdoor Health and Recreation Grants, supports locally-led outdoor recreation projects that directly address community health, quality of life, and access to the outdoors.

These programs give great ideas the boost they need. Applications for both grant opportunities will open on June 16, 2026 and close on July 10, 2026.
